I first came across Mike White’s work the way most people probably did: by falling completely in love with The White Lotus and not being able to stop explaining why it stuck with me the way it did. The more I looked into who Mike is and how he actually works, the more I wanted to understand it properly, not just watch it.

Getting the chance to sit down with Mike White wasn’t something I took for granted. Going in, I had a list of questions about craft, character and process, but what I actually walked away with was a much bigger shift in how I think about making television at all. This case study is my attempt to unpack that conversation properly: what he said, what it meant, and what I’m taking with me into my own work as a director and producer.
